Tianhao 田浩

Tianhao (b. 1994, Huanggang, Hubei) is a contemporary Chinese artist whose practice moves between observation, symbolism, and existential reflection. A graduate of the Xinjiang Arts Institute, he now lives and works in a remote village, where rural life sharpens his attention to the ordinary: animals, rooms, shadows, weather, childhood memories, and the strange emotional charge hidden within familiar scenes.

As a young child, Tianhao once imagined a future as a zoologist and botanist. That early fascination with the natural world remains visible in his paintings through his sensitivity to color, form, and the emotional life of everyday contemplation. His work often becomes a vessel for larger questions about vulnerability, gender equity, power, and the struggle to give voice to those whose lives have been overlooked or constrained.
Influenced by the philosophical weight of Blaise Pascal, the surrealist logic of René Magritte, and the absurdist thought of Albert Camus, Tianhao creates paintings that appear modest at first but unfold with psychological gravity. His images invite the viewer to stay longer, to notice the tension between tenderness and unease, humor and sorrow, protection and exposure.
At the heart of Tianhao’s practice is a belief that painting can hold what language fails to express. His work resists spectacle in favor of minute emotional precision. Through poetic symbolism and visual metaphor, he gives form to the private experiences many people carry: the need for shelter and protection, the ache of becoming, the loneliness of being unseen, the absurdity of survival, and the fragile hope of being understood.
Tianhao’s paintings ask us to look again at the unnoticed world and to find meaning in the places where life hides its deepest truths.
