Consignments

Last updated: August 11, 2026

At KB Fine Art, we selectively accept consignments of high-quality contemporary artworks from collectors, estates, corporations, and artists. With deep roots in the San Francisco Bay Area, we offer personalized service, strategic placement, and full transparency throughout the consignment process.

Our focus is on finding the right long-term home for each work rather than rushing a sale. We leverage our strong relationships with private collectors, tech and finance professionals, interior designers, corporate collections, and institutions across California and the United States.

What We Accept for Consignment

We are most interested in works that align with our gallery program, including:

  • Works by artists we currently represent or have previously exhibited
  • Contemporary paintings, sculpture, photography, works on paper, and select multiples
  • Secondary-market works in excellent condition with clear provenance
  • Pieces that will resonate with our collector base (emerging to mid-career contemporary art)

We generally do not accept antiques, decorative art, most pre-1970 works, or pieces in poor condition unless they have a direct connection to our program.

Our Consignment Process

  1. Initial Inquiry
Submit details and photographs (see “How to Submit” below). We treat all inquiries with confidentiality.
  2. Review & Valuation
Our team evaluates quality, condition, provenance, market comparables, and salability. This typically takes 5–10 business days.
  3. Strategy Discussion
If we believe we can successfully place the work, we will schedule a call to discuss pricing strategy, marketing plan, timeline, and terms.
  4. Consignment Agreement
We prepare a clear written agreement detailing commission, duration (typically 6–12 months), responsibilities, insurance, and payment terms.
  5. Marketing & Sales
The work may be featured in gallery exhibitions, online viewing rooms, targeted collector emails, private sales presentations, or our website and social channels (with your approval).
  6. Settlement
Upon sale, we handle all logistics, documentation, and shipping coordination. Proceeds are remitted to you within 30 days of cleared buyer payment, less agreed commission and expenses.
