About the work
A horse once ran across open ground, where distance had no edge. Now it's wandering inside a corridor.
No one brought it here. No door is locked behind it. The walls curve without an end, removing any sense of direction. Along them, identical doors repeat, each holding a warm, steady light. These lights create the illusion of exit through brightness, using warmth within the enclosure to dull the instinct to escape, persuading what is inside to settle for a lit confinement.
The horse stands alert, head lifted, mouth open mid-breath. Its body still carries motion, yet it withholds from trotting or galloping, as if unwilling to spend it on a path that leads nowhere.
Nearby, a cactus sits contained in a pot. A form shaped for harsh, open landscapes, now placed indoors where survival no longer depends on exposure, but on the acceptance of limits. It becomes an image of life that continues through submission.
Outside, under a full moon, in the distance, a small herd moves freely, untouched by walls or repetition. They suggest continuity, origin, and a life that has not been reorganized.
Inside, the corridor offers movement without direction. The cactus reflects survival within imposed boundaries. The window holds a world that remains visible, yet unreachable.
And the horse stands between them. It does not choose the doors. It does not become the cactus. It cannot enter the field.
So it remains where it is.
