We Wait Together

About the work
The day is slipping away. The moon hangs low above the river, painting its path across the water in pale gold. She draws the curtain open as if she heard the sound of coming home. I sit beside her, listening and watchful, my eyes tracing the same horizon.
The room is kept very quiet, with no music except for the sound of her breath and the faint rustle of fabric. The candle flickers, stubborn against the dusk.
She is lost in thought again.
We wait together, trusting that what is meant will come, as the river meets the moon and the darkness turns to gold.
