About the work
In this still interior by the sea, the cat stands as the silent keeper of a life that has briefly stepped beyond the room that holds it. Outside, the man sits on a bench facing the horizon, absorbed in the vast and uncertain expanse of the ocean. Inside, the small rituals of living remain: fruit resting on the table, flowers arranged in a vase, cushions holding the warmth of recent presence. The room carries the slow accumulation of a life shaped over time, yet for this moment, it is the cat who preserves its continuity.
Animals understand something humans often forget: meaning is rarely found in distant horizons but in the steady rhythm of home. As the man searches the sea for answers, the cat waits in the place that defines him. Its gaze turns outward, attentive and patient, as if keeping watch for the figure who stepped away. The cat knows the man will return. In that certainty lies a deeper human truth. Every wandering life depends on a keeper, someone or something that holds the center of the world steady until we find our way back to it.
