The Emperor's New Clothes

Artist’s Note:
"This painting wasn't completed by me alone. After finishing it one evening, I woke up the next morning to find that a mosquito had landed and stuck itself in the middle of the canvas, within the frame. It was a perfect moment of serendipity, so I decided to leave the mosquito as part of the artwork."

About the Work:
The presence of the mosquito, both fragile and uninvited, deepens the work's meaning. It becomes a collaboration between artist, chance, and the overlooked forces around us. This piece resonates with the conditions of contemporary society, where life often unfolds under the weight of spectacle.

Commodities and images colonize our social existence. A few perform while the many silently watch. The act of watching, captivated yet passive, becomes a form of control and submission, leading to estrangement and loneliness. As images accumulate endlessly, we live within a theatre of illusions, sustained and entrapped by the very spectacles we consume.
