Le chien qui pisse

Le chien qui pisse depicts a small dog sprawled across a vintage deep-green tufted sofa, painted with loose, playful brushwork and a restrained, low-saturation palette. Its body is completely unguarded: limbs open, posture slack, caught in a state of ridiculous ease. The strange, surreal liquid line cutting through the composition disrupts the tenderness of a traditional pet portrait, bringing forward something more instinctive, bodily, and absurd.

The title means “The Dog That Pisses.” Its bluntness is central to the work. Rather than dressing the animal in charm or sentimentality, the title points directly to the body at its most shameless and unfiltered. The dog has abandoned elegance, obedience, and control. It is no longer performing cuteness or composure, but has collapsed into a private state of instinctive release.

With humor that is both gentle and sharp, the painting becomes a mirror of modern exhaustion: the moment when we finally step away from the world, stop performing dignity, and allow ourselves to be awkward, imperfect, and real. In this small act of absurdity, the painting finds something strangely liberating.
