This is the kind of painting that holds your gaze the moment you encounter it. A young woman lies across a sofa, her body loose and heavy, as rest turns into surrender. The scene feels familiar: the exhaustion after a long day, when the body has stopped moving, but the mind reaches almost automatically for the screen.

The phone is a small portal to entertainment, connection, distraction, validation, and escape, offering the illusion of relief while widening the distance between the figure and the present. From it emerges a red snake, an image charged with temptation, danger, seduction, poison, knowledge, and transformation.

The painting reflects a contemporary condition many of us know intimately: doomscrolling without purpose, seeking comfort but feeling emptier, wanting rest but becoming more tired. At its deepest level, the painting asks: Who controls our attention? When does comfort become captivity?
