Shell II
2023
Oil on canvas
80 × 60 cm / 31.5 × 23.6 in
About the work
The ocean sunfish is a slow-moving creature, particularly unresponsive to pain, almost as if it’s numb to it. Similarly, people wear many “shells” or masks, adapting to different roles in various environments. Over time, these layers can become so thick that they lose sight of who they truly are underneath.
