About the work
In Her Own Frame draws on the cool, self-contained sensuality of Ingres’s The Valpinçon Bather. Seen from behind, the figure remains withheld from the viewer, while her black-gloved arms break the conventional rectangle and determine the painting's upper edge.
The body becomes the force that produces it. Through this subtle formal shift, a familiar art-historical pose is transformed into an image of agency, control, and self-definition.
